In order to send WISEdata from SEEDS, all districts, including new and existing districts, must identify SEEDS as their special ed vendor.
Follow the steps below to subscribe to SEEDS as a special ed vendor at WISE.
Identifying SEEDS as the LEA Special Ed Vendor
All local education agencies (LEAs) that report to DPI (i.e., public school districts, independent charter schools, Choice schools) need to create or resubscribe to vendor subscriptions annually for all vendors.
This means that LEAs that want to send WISEdata from SEEDS need to subscribe to SEEDS as their special ed vendor at WISE.
Follow the steps in this link to add SEEDS as the special ed vendor for an LEA: https://dpi.wi.gov/wisedata/help/mini-tutorials/edcred
After an LEA has subscribed to SEEDS as a their special ed vendor at WISE, a key and secret will be given to the LEA.
Adding Key and Secret in SEEDS
LEAs are responsible for adding their Key and Secret in SEEDS each year. This includes new and existing LEAs. Only users with Admin level permission will be able to add or edit Edfi Credentials.
- Admin users will be able to add the Key and Secret for the coming school year after SEEDS rollover on July 15th.
- The year listed in Edfi Credentials in SEEDS matches DPI's year. For example: 2025-2026 school year is 2026 DPI year.
To add or edit the Key and Secret:
- Go to Toolbox - WISEdata Settings
- Click "EdFi Credentials."
- Enter the Key and Secret for the school year.
- Click "Save Credentials."
Additional Information
- If this is the first year that an LEA will be subscribing to SEEDS as their special ed vendor at WISE, the LEA should communicate with their previous special ed vendor/SIS to turn off sharing of special education data from the previous source.
