Shortened Day
The shortened school day accommodation must be outlined in the student's Individualized Education Program (IEP). Follow your LEA's guidance for documenting a shortened day in the IEP. These data elements should only be reported for students with shortened school day annotated as a placement in their IEP. These data elements should not be reported for students without IEPs. For example, these data elements should not be reported for high school seniors that qualify for late start and early release based on the number of credits they have earned/need to complete for graduation.
DPI guidance:
Think of the Shortened School Day data elements as an addition equation:
School Weekly Hours + Shortened Weekly Hours Compared to Peers = Standard Peer Attendance Hours
25 hours of school per week + 5 hours less than peers attend school = 30 hours per standard school week.
Reporting Shortened Day in SEEDS:
On the Evaluation tab for the student, complete the data fields for Shortened Day. Note: These fields will be added to the Data Collection form in the future, but are not currently available.
On the District tab, click on "SEPA data" to open the student's SEPA record. Click on the date on the left side of the SEPA record in order to edit the SEPA record.
Click on the checkbox next to Shortened Day to display the fields.
Residential Care Center (RCC)
Under state law (Wis. Stats. § 115.762(3)(g)), the DPI as the State Education Agency (SEA) must monitor Residential Care Centers (RCCs). This includes monitoring where and when students are placed both in and out of state. WISEdata now includes the option for districts to select (and monitor) when students are placed in an RCC both in state and out of state. Follow your LEA's guidance for documenting Residential Care Center (RCC) in the IEP.
NOTE: Data cannot flow to DPI unless it is entered in your SIS. To resolve issues around data that is entered into the SIS that isn’t flowing to DPI, LEAs need to work with their vendor support staff to resolve data flow issues.
Reporting Residential Care Center (RCC) in SEEDS:
On the District tab for the student, and answer the RCC question "Yes." Select if the student is placed at the RCC by IEP Team, County, or Parent.
Select if the RCC is located in the state of Wisconsin or out of state.
If the RCC is located in the state of Wisconsin, choose the RCC from the dropdown menu.
If the RCC is located Out of State, manually add the RCC name, city, and state information.
On the District tab, click on "SEPA data" to open the student's SEPA record. Click on the date on the left side of the SEPA record in order to edit the SEPA record.
Click on the checkbox next to In RCC to display the fields, and follow the same steps listed above to identify if the RCC is located in state or out of state.
