All students in SEEDS are either Special Ed Active or Special Ed Inactive. A student must be Special Ed Active to be added to a class or itinerant list.
Note: Active/Inactive students are not the same as Activated/Inactivated students. Refer to the Help Center article "Activate/Inactivate Students" to learn more about how to activate/inactivate a student for a district.
- Special Ed Status refers to Special Ed eligibility in the district.
- Activation refers to District access to a student.
To Make a Student Special Ed Active:
Go to the Student Detail View.
District tab:
- Remove all information from the Exit/Transfer Details. This section should always be blank.
- Answer the Home School question. This question will be blank if the student transfers from another SEEDS district.
Evaluation tab:
- Add a Primary Impairment.
- Answer the following questions: Does Child Have an Impairment? and Does Child Need Special Ed?
- Remove any dates from dismissal areas, including Refusal to Place, Consent Revoked, and Special Ed Dismiss Date.
Note: A student may be Special Ed Active and also be Eval in Process - Yes. Any time that any of the above changes are made, staff should do a hard refresh (ctrl shift R) in order to see the student in SEEDS.
